Last weekend my screen got all funny. Suddenly some colors were displayed as alternating black and white lines, while some have a nice pattern of jumping green dots. The black color used in my terminal gets greyish, and in general, anything requiring colors is hard to use now, since they’re all distorted to hell.

As I was writing to the store, ready to complain about the graphic card I believed to be the culprit, I tried the screen on my laptop, and the problem was still there. Which led me to the conclusion that it’s the screen that is the problem. (And the fact that my TV works perfectly, while the computer screen is garbled, is also a pretty good hint of who’s to blame.)

And then it fixed itself. Suddenly everything was back to normal, as if the thing had never happened. And it stayed that way.

Until five minutes ago. Now it’s broken again. The warranty should still be valid, so hopefully I can get it replaced. But that means I’ll probably have to manage with my old 17” CRT until I get a replacement…

update: Went back to normal now. But it can’t keep on doing this!
